Hey guys!

This summer is already off to a busy start. The day after I got out of school, I hopped on a flight to Montreal to visit my sister for the week. Some people dread going to the airport and riding the plane, but I personally love it. I even enjoy the whole process of waiting in line for the security checkpoint, taking your liquids out, taking your shoes off, showing your boarding pass to someone every five feet, getting my Starbucks (hello caffeine), choosing a magazine for the flight (ELLE always has great articles), etc, etc... I don't know why but I think it is kind of fun! Every time I travel, I love observing the people around me (not in a creepy stalker way lol) and it amazes me how all sorts of people are in one airport, waiting to go to far places ranging from Des Moines to Cape Town! And then it makes me think, how lucky we are to be living in a time where we can travel across the world in a few hours.

As always, my trip to Montreal flew by. It was awesome to be with my sister again and the weather was great for eye-shopping and finding the best cappuccino in town. We also watched Iron Man 3, which was very good but I went off on a short feminist tangent after it. I'll save that for another post... aka I don't want to scare anybody off. Besides that, I discovered that my whole wardrobe needs a 90's revival, starting with denim overalls and a leather fanny pack. The sad thing is, I'm not even joking. So if you know where I could find those two items, help a girl out!

Thank you so much for reading! I don't say this enough, but your comments truly make my day.

How to make Ice Cream Cone Cupcakes

Happy Memorial Day!

Here is a super fun cooking post on how to make ice cream cone cupcakes. Although I wish I was the next Rachel Ray, I definitely am not anywhere close to being a chef. This recipe is for those who love baking sweets, without all the hassle of making everything from scratch, taking the whole day to cook, etc. I actually made a post on how to make these cupcakes last year, but decided to do another one because my new camera delivers way better pictures. It is super easy and fun to eat. Bon appetit!

You will need: cake mix, frosting, ice cream cones, and any toppings you want.

1. Set up your cones. You can either use a cupcake pan, or create this make-shift holder by puncturing holes into a sheet of aluminum foil.

2. Prepare the cake mix as instructed on the box. Fill in the ice cream cones almost to the top.

3. Bake at 350 degrees Farenheit for about 25 minutes. Adjust the baking time if needed, until the top turns a little golden.

4. Frost! TIP: Wait until the cupcake cools before frosting, otherwise it will melt along the sides!

5. Dip the frosting gently into a bowl of sprinkles.

SCHOOL'S OUT!!!

I want to do a quick reflection on this past school year. I moved across the country last summer, and was the new girl once again. I remember my first day of school like it was yesterday: my hands were slightly shaking from nerves, I kept thinking of the worst scenarios, and I felt like a fish out of water when I was trying to find my classes in an unfamiliar building. This year was a big change for me, and quite frankly, I hated it at first. All I could think about was my old school and my friends that I missed so much! The first few weeks of school, I was so focused on making as many new friends as possible and making sure I "fit in." But that fake-ness can only go for so long, as it made me really unhappy and even more lost. So as the year went by, I matured a lot and realized it was my attitude that needed to be fixed. Instead of being so negative, I tried to focus on what I do have and what makes me happy. This made me grow into a much more independent person, and I think I truly know who I am and what I stand for. I am now very thankful for this experience. A person can only grow if they are placed outside of their comfort zone!

Just when I started to get adjusted to my new school, I made the decision to move again this summer. It's kind of hard and long to explain, but basically I am going to college a year early. So again, I will have to pick up where I left off and start over. Well, actually not start over, but it is just another chapter of life! Although I dreaded moving last year, I can't wait to start my own life in college. I am sure that it will take time for me to adapt again, but the experiences I got this past year will help me have a positive attitude about it! Honestly, now that I have moved around so much, I think I would get really bored after living in one place for more than five years.

Change can be scary and it is definitely harder to take the road less traveled. But if there is one thing this year taught me, it is that change should be embraced because you never know what opportunities lay ahead unless you take a chance!

Thank you all so much for reading, and here's to a summer full of memories!

snap back into reality

I love this kind of sporty, downtown-girl look. I actually wore this outfit to the movies last weekend, when I went to go watch the Great Gatsby in 3D.  I could literally go on a day-long tangent about how amazing the movie was. Especially because I had to read the novel and write a deep analytical essay about it in my literature class. It made me appreciate the movie even more because I understood the symbolism behind certain scenes! Okay, I'll stop here before I go off on that Gatsby tangent I mentioned earlier.

The weather is an absolute dream, and I only have two days left of school! This is the time where a fast forward button for life would be awesome.

good eats

Food, food, food, and more food. I can't even begin to explain my love affair with food. I love finding new restaurants, and expanding my palate. The hardest question for me is to answer is probably, "What is your favorite food?" I literally don't have a one-word answer to that because I love food in general. Hope you guys like these pictures, and enjoy a feast for your eyes!

These pictures are from last weekend, with my mom's friend, Heyin. She is a huge foodie, and I recently helped her start a food and travel blog! Her blog is in Korean so you might not be able to read what she writes, but you can still enjoy her pictures. :)

Happy Friday everyone!

It is a happy Friday for me, indeed. Today was the last Friday of the school year, as I get out of school next Thursday. I'm so ready to be done with testing and waking up early everyday, but at the same time I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around how fast this year zoomed by. We are at that time of the year where students, and even teachers, are mentally clocked out of school-mode and itching for time to finally relax.

I am sure many of you are either done or almost done with the school year, so I wish everyone good luck on your exams. We are on the homestretch, guys!
