overalls in alley ways

Fashion has the most interesting way of recycling itself. Who would have thought overalls would come back into style? I certainly did not see it coming, but it's awesome to be able to wear a childhood favorite again without looking like a hill billy. I won the overalls I'm wearing from a contest held by Twee from ezzentrictopz.com (Thanks again Twee!) Now that the ground is covered in snow, I'm going to have to layer up with tights!

Ain't Laurent Without Yves

I was super excited when The Denim Warehouse invited me to participate in their first-ever blogger contest. I got to visit their store in Montreal, and pick out an outfit to feature on my blog. The blogger with the most votes wins their outfit of choice! Pretty simple, right? Obviously, I went for the super comfy sweater with a smart saying on it. I know, I know, it's kind of a dying trend, but I still adore the wit. Under it, I'm wearing a skin-tight dress that appears as a skirt here. And of course, every outfit needs a pop of color so this cobalt blue scarf does just that.

Cozy up

Jacket, Urban behavior_____Sweater, Abercrombie & Fitch_____Skirt, Topshop_____Socks, American Apparel____Shoes, J. Crew____Beanie, Korea

Last, but not least, here is my final look from Spoiler Magazine's fashion board article. I really love creating monochrome looks using all sorts of textures and layers. It also makes for a very warm outfit!

We had our first snow fall today! I love the first day of snow, because the flakes come down slowly and it's really a beautiful sight. On the other hand, it signals the beginning of five months of cold and bundling up every single day in a huge parka. I was seriously spoiled last year by having no winter in Atlanta! Fingers crossed for a mild winter.

Bejeweled

I'm all about mixing high end with low. Like this blouse with beautiful jewels on the collar, dressed down with a beanie and some skinny jeans.

It was another very busy week, and I am off to cover a fashion show tonight for Spoiler Magazine. Hope you all have a nice weekend. :)

the black and white theory

My style is always evolving, and I think I am going through a phase where all I want to wear is black and white. But, I think this phase will evolve into a way of life. I got these silk pants from Theory, and I love how it is a dressed up version of track pants.

Happy Monday!

All tied up - Spoiler Magazine Part II

Leather jacket, Express____Top, Korea____Skirt, American Apparel____Plaid shirt, Zara____Tights, Aldo____Socks, J. Crew____Hat, American Apparel____Shoes, Target

Here is the second outfit from Spoiler Magazine's fashion board post. I am loving the grunge trend, inspired by British street style and rock bands. Tying a plaid shirt around your waist is the perfect, and easiest way to add a little color and grunge to any outfit. Plus, you can layer it on when it gets chilly.

Yet another week has flown by! It's crazy to think there are only a few weeks left in the semester. Now it's down to crunch time... I am writing this post instead of my analytical essay for English, because I am having a major writer's block right now. (Please, god or goddess of creating meaning out of ambiguous poems, help!)

Anyways, I have a three-day weekend to work on it so wish me luck!

Five Fall/Winter Jackets

The weather got drastically cooler this week, which means it is time to dig down deep in your closet and bring back the good old winter jackets. I know, I also hate having to cover my outfit in a huge blanket-esque piece of clothing. But, here are some jacket options that are both cute and keep you from freezing!

I think we can all agree that the varsity jacket is a relatively new trend, and it is seriously everywhere. I love this black and white one with pleather sleeves because it is the modern, grown-up version of your high school varsity jacket.

I kind of have a love-hate relationship with the anorak jacket. I love it because it is a more casual coat that is really functional with any outfit. But, I also hate it because I think every girl and their mother has a version of this coat. Seriously, I think 80% of my girls at my school have something similar to it. But it's probably because it is so functional and cute!

I love, LOVE shearling jackets for their cropped and fitted fit. This jacket is also a great option for when a night on the town, when a leather jacket is too cold to wear.

A new trend in jackets this season is the "cocoon" style. Which is really what it's called: an oversized, loose, and minimalistic design. This style of jacket was everywhere on the runway, from Celine to Acne. It is like a chic and wearable jacket, and what is not to love about that?

And to finish the list on a boring note, the classic black coat is and will always be a great fall/winter jacket. There is really no going wrong on a black coat with a simple design. So if you don't have one yet, I recommend investing in a nice one because it will be a loyal friend for years.

Hope this post gave you some ideas on what kind of coat to get for this season! Check out the great selection at Persunmall.com

Stay warm,

Dahye

Spoiler Magazine Fashion Board I

Jacket, Korea____Sweater, Zara____Skirt, Forever21____Boots, DSW____Hat, H&M

Last week, I was reached out by Spoiler Magazine, asking me if I would like to be featured on their Fashion board. (I think it's obvious what my response was: OF COURSE!) Spoiler is a magazine specialized to deliver the latest news in Montreal's fashion industry. (hence, "spoiler" alert) I was very excited for this opportunity as I was an avid reader, and as a blogger, it is awesome to be recognized in a real magazine.

I had so much fun shooting with the talented photographer, Sarah-Emily, who is also one of the editors at Spoiler. We agreed to take pictures around Old Montreal, which was a great choice as there were lots of cool doors and streets to use as a background. I styled a total of five outfits showcasing my personal style. My outfits really don't reflect how cold the weather was, and I am surprised that I didn't get sick the next day. (All in the name of fashion, right?) By the end of the shoot, Sarah's poor fingers turned into popsicles! But after seeing the great results from our shoot, I think braving the cold was totally worth it.
