HIGHWAY EIGHTEEN

AHH I AM FINALLY 18 YEARS OLD!!!

Eighteen is only a year difference from seventeen, but it sounds so much older and mature for some reason. I guess it's with good reason because I can now drink, get a tattoo, vote, buy a car, own property all under my own name, and be seen as an "adult" by the government. Doesn't mean I'm going to be doing any of those things anytime soon (well maybe except the drinking part) but now that I'm eighteen, I COULD IF I WANNA.

Growing up, becoming 18 years old sounded like a far-off fantasy of freedom and doing things my own way. Now that the day is here, I realize that it's just another birthday and I feel the same as I did as a seventeen year old. But I do believe that I am growing more and more independent, finding who I truly am and what I really love about life each day. Already this year, I went through a lot of "firsts" that is a part of becoming an adult. I moved out of my parents' house, got into college, got my first job, all the while trying to cook for myself (aka cereal and frozen fruit) and realizing that spending $5 a day at Starbucks seriously adds up fast. It's an exciting transition time in my life, but I am going to miss how people tend to forgive you easier for mistakes and stuff because "awww, she is ONLY seventeen years old!"

I don't know about you, or if it's just me trying to be "deep" and over-analyze my life, but birthdays really make me reflect back on the past. I know, I know, I am still young and what do I really have to reflect on? But seriously, I think about all of the different schools and places I went to, and friends I've met, and the "phases" I've gone through up until today. I'm not going to get into an overly long rant about my personal life on my very public blog here, but basically, my life has gone through a couple of 180 degree changes. Just when you think you know how life will plan out, plans radically change. It really sucks when that happens because you feel out of control and confused. I've learned to just work hard everyday, appreciate the weeks, and cherish the months that add up to a year in no time. No matter what happens, whether it be good or bad, everything becomes a distant memory as time goes by and I think it is those memories that makes everybody's life their own unique story. I know that my life is not going to go perfectly according to plan, but I am certain that it will somehow pan out in the most twisted, random, but perfect way.

Cheers to eighteen years of living! Now, I must stuff myself with sushi and cake.

xo,

Dahye

Heart of Gold

Knee heart tights from Aldo

We are now well into my favourite month of October, and the leaves are beginning their annual change of colours! It is simply beautiful, and I love stepping on the dried leaves to hear that 'crunch.' Even though it is fall, the weather was like a summer day. Which I don't think anybody is complaining about, but I think we can all agree that it's quite odd to have a high of 27 degrees C during this time of year. Maybe I unconsciously brought a pocket full of sunshine from Atlanta when I moved to Montreal. Hopefully this calls for a mild winter!

Here I am wearing my favorite pair of knee-heart tights (Last seen in this post!) with a sweater gilded in gold paint. I got this sweater from H&M two years ago, and I love how it can be dressed up or down. Either way, it never fails to make a statement! Especially on a sunny day, when the light just reflects off of me... not obnoxious at all. :P

Have a great weekend!

p.s. I reverted my blog header to what I had last year! Kind of random, but I think I'll stick with this one from now on.

Wearing V-FRANZ to DULCEDO

Dress, huge thanks to V-Franz_____Clutch, American Apparel____Shoes, Zara

Here are some pictures I took from a party I went to for Dulcedo Model Management's Five-year anniversary. I attended this black tie event with my sister, who is a model at the agency, and Camille, my blogger side-kick. Mingling, drinking, and dancing the night away at a trendy venue, alongside beautiful models and fashion people dressed to the tee, is my idea of a good night.

Of course, the hardest part is deciding on what to wear. I was so lucky that V-Franz let me wear one of his designs to the party! I chose this one-of-a-kind silk dress that fit like a glove, with elegant ruching details. All of his designs incorporate luxurious fabrics and make a statement without trying too hard. Many of the other models wore his designs to the party, and I have to say that they all looked fierce. Not only is Vfranz a talented designer, but he is also a genuinely nice and down-to-earth guy, which makes him an all-around awesome person. Watch out for him; he's going to make it big.

To finish the look, I frantically ran to Zara right after school to get shoes, half an hour before the party! (Talk about being fashionably late, literally.) These heels have a little spin-off from the simple pointed pump, and they were pretty comfortable considering how wide my feet are. Zara is seriously a life-saver when it comes to last-minute fashion needs! As for accessories, I kept it minimal with the carry all leather pouch from AA and a few gold bangles. And finally, I swiped on this new burgundy lipstick called "Diva" by MAC. (my burgundy obsession will never stop!)

TGIF!

Graphic tees with attitude are a big trend right now. I am obsessed with this one I'm wearing: two bananas in a Chanel logo shape flicking each other off. How awesomely random is that?

Happy Monday, and have a great week everybody!

This black and white streetstyle outfit combined with the run-down graffiti background makes this post maybe one of my most favorite yet! After a day of school, I met up with Camille for a quick blog shoot. It was actually really funny, because she was wearing all black and white too! (Great fashion minds think alike?) It actually worked out perfectly, because we found out about a Black and White outfit contest hosted by Elle Quebec on Instagram!

Check out my contest entry on Instagram @heydahye and like the outfit I posted with #NBEQ.

*Also, check out IFB'S Project #111: Get Fancy with Feline inspired Fashion! How perfect that a little kitty came to pose for some pictures. :)

Hope you are having a lovely week so far!

The best thing about moving to a new city is having the opportunity to meet new friends. After exchanging comments on each other's blogs, emailing back and forth, and texting occasionally, I finally got to meet Camille, from Fashion Tartare, in person! This was my first time meeting another person solely through their fashion blog, or any type of website, really. Like any other first encounter, a little part of me was nervous that it might be awkward... but honestly I should not have even worried! Camille is seriously such a genuinely sweet person, with a classy sense of style, and bold eyebrows that could rival Cara Delevigne's. And let's be real, if you put two fashion obsessed bloggers together, give them a camera and some nice lighting and you are good to go. ;)
