cabin fever: DIY Tie Tank

Here is how to make your very own DIY front-tie-crop-top-tank-top. I don't really know the technical term of it, but it is a great shirt to throw on for the summer! It's more than easy to make. All you need is a baggy t-shirt and a pair of scissors!

Start with any old t-shirt, and cut the neckline and arms. Cut it to how it would fit you best!
Then, cut a slit in the middle, from the bottom of the t-shirt to your belly button.

Then, tie away!

Voila! Your very own tie tank top. Easy right?
(Thanks to Maddie for taking these pictures!)

But if you are don't have time, the materials, or energy to make one, here is one I found on Forever21.com

If this weekend wasn't relaxing, then I don't know what relaxing is! Two of my bestest friends and I went up to the cabin for the 3-day weekend. The weather was gorgeous, allowing me to gain a great tan. I'm a firm user of sunscreen, but even the constant reapplying didn't prevent me from a slight burn! Besides tanning, we went on the boat and tubed. (Which is basically being pulled on an inflated tube by a speed boat.) Very fun, but tiring. My arms actually are sore from holding on to the tube for dear life! I will admit that I wiped out few, well many, times. Although the air temperature was in the 80's, the water felt like Antarctica. After a solid day in the sun, we watched tons of movies. Bridesmaids is just a classic movie. If you haven't seen it yet, you should change that. It is hilarious. I also finally got the chance to watch Stepbrothers. Was it good? Well, if you like Will Ferrel, then this movie is for you. Okay, now I'm sounding like a movie blogger or something so I will stop.

I have a math test tomorrow... better start studying for that. Why is it that teachers schedule tests the day we come back after a long weekend? Anybody have an answer to that question?

I hope you all had a great weekend as well, and let me know if you tried the DIY!

WELL HELLO.

I only have 8 days left of school until summer break. We are at that time of the year where homework becomes even bigger of a struggle to finish, because there is little to no motivation left. I feel like even the teachers are just ready to leave. In my English class, all we do during the hour is sit there and talk. I have a pretty old lady for a teacher, and although she is very sweet, I think she is about ready to retire. Wow, that sounded evil, but I think many of us, at one point or another, had that one really old teacher where you would get really worried about their health condition when they had a coughing fit. Yes, she is one of those.

Although I am ready for the summer, counting the days down is bittersweet at the same time. Thinking about how I only have 8 days left with my best friends, attending the same school, talking in the halls, eating lunch...  because after this summer, I will be attending a totally new school, with no familiar faces.

I guess I am just trying to enjoy it while it lasts! I am going to my friend's cabin this memorial weekend. I'm so excited to get out on the lake, enjoy speed boating, and most of all, TUBING! Hopefully I'll catch a nice tan. But, I know one thing is for sure. I am going to be eating a lot. That girl always has good food to offer. aka Nutella.

So, my diet will be on a hold for this weekend.

p.s. I am obsessed with polka dots.

and I'm bAAAAAAAAAAaaaaack!

Today, I took my AP World History Test! I can't tell you how liberating it feels to have gotten it done. And I can not wrap my head around the fact that there is only 13 days of school left until (what time is it?) SUMMER TIME! My older sister also just graduated from college, and I am moving to a new place this summer. So, it's going to be hectic with all the moving and traveling. I am nervous, excited, sad, happy, confused, anxious...ETC. I'm just taking it day by day for now!

This outfit features my DIY shorts that I scalloped. (Is that a word?) I love this flower headband, because it makes me feel like an awesome flower child prancing in the fields.

All of these pictures were taken by my friend, Amara. She is talented in photography, and is an all around awesome person. Check out her blog! She just started it though, so as you all know starting a blog does take some time to get used to and set up just right!

Scalloped Shorts

Scallops are girly and fun way to add an unexpected detail to any outfit! I made these scalloped jean shorts out of a pair of thrifted Levi high waisted shorts that I purchased for a whopping $3 at a local thrift store. I'm sure you can find a pair that will fit you if you search hard enough!

Materials: Shorts, scissors, marker, and anything circular object you can trace half circles with.

First, trace half circles along the hem of your shorts using your circle shaped object. (Here I am using the butt of a hair product) Using a washable marker is great because it is easy to work with, and it washes off easily!

Then, CUT!

And you are done.

Pretty easy DIY right there.
I will have an outfit post with my newly designed shorts soon. :)
My blogging absence can be blamed on AP test studying! I'm so excited to get it over with!

one for one

{Outfit Details}
(Blazer and dress, H&M)
(Wedges, TOMS)
(Bag, Thrifted)

I am wearing both of my absolute favorite pieces that I recently purchased.

First: the white blazer. I got it from H&M and it fits amazingly well. The fabric feels like a nice cotton, so it still looks casual despite the structured fit, and it is light enough to wear for the summer! I know for a fact that I'm going to be wearing this baby for years and years to come. I just hope it won't get dirty too soon! But the first day I wore it, of course I had to eat spaghetti with red tomato sauce...ya, needless to say, I got a little on my sleeve as I chowed down (a break from my summer body diet).
This blazer has a similar fit to the Theory one I am lusting over. At 1/6 of the price!

Second: TOMS red wedges. I think it was last year that TOMS came out with their wedges, and I remember thinking they were freaking awesome!! So, I decided to get them this year as my go-to summer shoe. I mean, it's for a great cause as well, because as you all know, buy a pair, and a child in need receives a pair. So boom. I bought 'em.
They are comfy and cute. I went with the red ones over the neutral colors (like black and grey), because HEY! You can go hard, or you can go home! (aka go for the bright and fun red ones)

Can you BELIEVE it is MAY already?! I sure can't...this year is going by so. fast. wow.
Anyways, my "diet" is going okay... Every morning, I am drinking a lettuce, broccoli, apple, and banana smoothie.

It's actually not that bad at all....who am I kidding? It's bad. :P
